Governance Committee and Council Reports

Governance meetings are open to all members of the campus community and all are encouraged to attend. For up-to-date information on governance and the various documents, please visit our new governance website.

College Council (CC)

The CC continues discussions on how to approach writing the next Educational Master Plan, and the relationships between the Educational Master Plan, Strategic Plan, and Mission Statements.

In addition, CC has also:

  • continued work on the college Innovation Process and how to align it with the Program Review and Maintenance of Effort processes;
  • approved the rubric for the 2016-17 Program Review cycle;
  • reviewed rankings from the 2015-16 cycle;
  • approved a “re-envisioned” Tech Committee (Instructional Technology Working Group (IITWG);
  • planned dates and topics for this semester’s Open Forums;
  • accepted the draft of the State of the College Report – an assessment of the college’s progress in implementing its Strategic Plan, and the opportunities and challenges the college now faces;
  • hosted the first college-wide open forum: a discussion on the State-of-the-College report and college priorities for 2016-17

Research, Planning and Evaluation Committee (RPEC)

The Research, Planning and Evaluation Committee established the following goals for 2016-17:

  • Create a DVC Research and Planning webpage.
  • Assist in the development of training activities.
  • Develop evaluation tools and assist with benchmarks.
  • Provide a closeout report for the DVC 2007-17 Educational Master Plan.
  • Provide support for the development of the updated Educational Master Plan.

Program Review Committee (PRC)

The PRC welcomes several new members this fall as they gear up for the next cycle. Training sessions for writing and validating program reviews will run from the end of September to early October.

During the previous cycle, PRC shifted to a four year comprehensive program review schedule that includes an option to submit annual reports. These rankings and reports were recently submitted to CC for review. They look forward to working with groups across campus on continual improvement of the resource allocation process.

Classified Senate

DVC Classified Senate began their fall meetings by generating ideas around focusing on “One More Student”. They also hosted a Q and A session with DVC’s new police lieutenant Ryan Huddleston.

Goals for 2016-17 include:

  • participation in updating the Educational Master Plan, and
  • participation in the morale climate survey workgroup.

Upcoming agenda items include an information session about becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution, and continued discussions on how classified can continually play a part in student success.
