Enrolling in DVC is one of the best ways to ensure acceptance to a four-year college. DVC has consistently been among those California community colleges that transfer the most students to the University of California and the California State University systems. Contributing to DVC's outstanding transfer rate is the excellent instruction, small-class size and individual attention. Another major contributing factor is the help and guidance provided to DVC students through the counseling and transfer centers. DVC students are guided through the often complex process of understanding which transferable courses are required for admissions, for their major and for general education. These requirements vary from institution to institution and even from major to major within an institution. It can often be overwhelming without the kind of assistance that DVC students can expect. DVC has extensive articulation agreements with major universities like UC Berkeley and CSU Hayward. No other community college transfers more students to UC Berkeley than DVC. Last year alone, DVC transferred over 450 students to the UC system and over 1,000 students to the CSU system. A full 35% of the students admitted to Berkeley's Haas School of Business for fall 2001 were from DVC! |
