– Managerial (internal) & cost accounting
– Individual & business taxation
– Financial statement auditing
– Accounting for non-profits
– Accounting & tax software applications
– Payroll accounting

Other related courses in our program include:

  • International business

  • Statistics for business

  • Communications for business

  • Small business management

  • Principles of macroeconomics

  • Principles of microeconomics

The certificate of achievement program provides excellent development of a student’s critical thinking, problem solving and business judgment skills through an integrated broad program that combines research, real-world perspective, oral and written communication, current events, team projects, and computer applications.

The certificate of completion is a short, basic program that is often helpful for obtaining entry-level employment in the accounting area or for current employees who wish to update their skills for a pay increase or promotion.

What will I learn through the accounting program?

Students will develop the knowledge and skills required of an accountant: compiling and analyzing business records and preparing financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, cost studies, and tax reports.

To earn a certificate of achievement, students must complete each of the Required courses with a grade of  “C” or better. Course requirements are available in the evening and on weekends. Some are also available in the day. At least 25 percent of the units must have been completed at DVC. Students may also earn an associate in arts degree. Requests for course substitution and/or waiver are made to the accounting and information management department chairperson. See the A.A. degree requirements listed in the “Transfer and DVC degrees” section of the catalog.
