Q. Is there a fee to take the assessment test? A. There are no fees to take the assessment test. Testing is provided as a service to DVC students. Q. Can I use assessment scores taken at another college? A. We accept assessment scores from other California Community Colleges. Please bring a copy of your scores along with course descriptions of the courses you were placed into at your previous college to the Assessment Center for verification. Q. Can I use assessment scores from DVC at another college? A. Many community colleges accept DVC's assessment scores for placement into courses at their college. However, please verify directly with the college you will be transferring to be sure that the accept scores from DVC. Q. How can I receive my assessment scores? A. In compliance with the Student Privacy Act, Assessment Center staff is not able to give results over the phone, through mail, fax or email. In order to receive a copy of your scores and placements, you must go in person to the Assessment Center. Scores are also available on the Web Advisor, under the Test Summary option, located on the DVC website. Cut scores for the Test Summary will soon be available on the Assessment Center homepage. Q. How long does it take to process my results? A. The Math and CELSA assessment scores will be scored on the same day that the test is taken provided that all information is complete. Chemistry is available the following business day. The English Assessment is a written exam that will be read and scored by two English instructors and therefore will take 5 - 7 days to receive results. Q. Can I use my SAT, ACT or AP scores for course placement? A. The Assessment Center does not evaluate SAT, ACT or AP scores.
