Steve Ward is currently in his eleventh year as the DVC Athletic Director. He is also a member of the C.O.A. Management Council and is the administrative representative assigned to swimming by the Big Seven Conference. Ward received his A.A. degree from Chabot College, B.A. from UC-Riverside and M.A. from Saint Mary's College in Moraga. He played four years of college baseball and in the minor leagues for the California Angels. He was also named leading pitcher in the N.B.C. World Series in Wichita, Kansas in 1978. Ward retired from coaching after twenty years in 2000, his final fourteen years as the head baseball coach at DVC. He posted 357 wins, which is a school record for victories in baseball. He was inducted into the C.C.C.B.C.A. Hall of Fame in May 2002. In 2005, Ward was named the State Physical Education Administrator of the year by SCOPE (State Community College Organization of Physical Educators). |
