Women's Basketball Fall 2007 Preview The Diablo Valley Women's Basketball team is looking forward to the 2007-08 season in the Big 7 Conference. The coaching staff is very excited about the prospects of this year's recruiting class along with the returning players from the 2006-07 season. The team is coming off of a 5th place finish in the very competitive Big 7, in which the top four teams qualified for the state playoffs. This year's team is looking to improve on last year's record and qualify for the state playoffs. This season the women's basketball team is hosting its first tournament on opening weekend. They will also be traveling to three other tournaments in the pre-season, to get ready for the competitive Big 8 Conference. Coach Mattson and her staff are anxious to see how quickly the new recruits and returning players will be able to come together as a team. The returning players include: Becca Najera (Alhambra HS), Sara Pippo (Las Lomas HS), and Danielle Broussard (San Leandro HS). Two other sophomores who are new to the team this year are expected to make an instant impact to the team. They are April Johnson (John Swett/DVC) and Jessica Samiere (Deer Valley/Central Arizona CC). The freshman include: Paola Flores (Ygnacio Valley), Olivia Humphrey (Liberty), Claire Jacober (Acalanes), Monica Pastor (Freedom), and Megan Souza (Concord). Head Coach
