Additional Information & Services MORE JOB OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE: (Located on clipboards in the Career & Employment Services reception area) There are single job announcements and multiple listings mailed to the placement office daily.
If you desire a copy of an announcement(s), ask our front counter staff to assist you. There is a limit of 5 copies per day. INTERNSHIPS: Throughout the year, Internship opportunities are received from both the private industry and non-profit agencies-many of them relate to academic disciplines. VOLUNTEER JOBS: Announcements are received on a continual basis from the community, both from non-profit agencies and the private industry. Many of the jobs relate to academic programs-Health Science, Education, Social Services, and others. If interested in this type of work, ask at counter for VOLUNTEER BINDER. Applicant must be registered with service to do so. Also, visit the Volunteer/Service Learning counter in the Career Center for more volunteer employment opportunities. DOMESTIC-TYPE JOBS: These jobs include Housework, Child Care, Live-in type employment. Domestic jobs are not online. If you are interested in this type of employment, ask at the counter for the DOMESTIC BINDER. SUMMER JOBS OPPORTUNITIES: Employment requests and directory information from camps, national parks, pool associations, overseas, federal and state governments, etc. are received in the placement office as early as November for the upcoming summer. Check the Summer Jobs Ad Board located in the reception area of the placement office. Ask at counter for SUMMER JOBS BINDER. Some Summer Internships are also included. Remember, applicant must be registered to view the binder. Private industry positions are received from February on into the summer. All local summer jobs are online.
WINTER JOB OPPORTUNITIES: Winter jobs are received as early as August. All winter jobs, including posters and flyers, are posted on the Winter Job Ad Board in the reception area of the office. EMPLOYER RECRUITING EVENTS: Throughout the school year, the placement office schedules on-campus recruiting events of employers and the military service. Notices of upcoming events are posted at the front window of the office and at bulletin boards throughout the campus. RESUME ASSISTANCE: Resume preparation, cover letter and thank you letter assistance is provided through the placement service-by appointment only. JOB SEARCH HANDOUTS: Located in the book rack in the reception area are various job search preparation handouts-“16 Questions that can Change your Job Interview”=”Pre-Employment Inquiry Guidelines”-“job Hunting Helpful Hints”=”Informational Interviewing”, plus other materials.
