Learning to Write Well

Extend and refine your writing skills by experiencing writing as a powerful tool in communications. Activities that promote the writing process include opportunities for prewriting, drafting, responding, revising/editing, and post-writing exercises.

Class location: Liberal Arts Building, Room 107

Wise and Wonderful Words

Make your words come alive by extending and refining your writing skills. Many unique and exciting activities will be provided to enhance the writing process. A polished written report will be the end product. Daily journal writing in class will be included.

Creative Writing

Do you want to add some flair to your writing? Do you want to try your hand at making your writing more interesting? Do you want to seek new ways to let your imagination find its way onto your paper? In this class you will learn techniques to help you develop more interesting stories, enhance your language arts skills, and think in more creative ways.

Sign Language

Communicate with your friends in silence by learning basic American Sign Language. You will acquire communication skills and the knowledge of finger spelling.

College for Kids Gazette

Discover your skills and talent for writing a newspaper story. Write editorials, sports, local news, book reviews, health and beauty, and advice columns, or want ads. Class will include interviewing, proofreading and editorial copying. CFK paper will be produced at the end of the course.

College for Kids Gazette Jr.

Same course as the College for Kids Gazette, but geared to the younger student.

Improve your ability to Communicate in English with emphasis on conversation skills and vocabulary.

Stand and Deliver

Practice in the art of public speaking through creative storytelling and active demonstration. Learn to convey your ideas clearly, while maintaining audience attention.
