Addiction Studies
The Diablo Valley College addiction studies program is a CAADE accredited program, which prepares students for a variety of rewarding careers in human services that specialize in addiction treatment and drug prevention. As an addiction studies student you will develop an in-depth understanding of the addiction process and how to motivate someone towards positive change. You will also learn of the many employment opportunities in the addiction field.
Specifically, students will gain:
- basic listening and group facilitation skills;
- an understanding of addiction, family systems, recovery and substance abuse prevention issues;
- familiarity with various assessment tools, treatment plans, and charting protocols;
- an understanding of legal and ethical concerns for workers in the addiction field.
