Ujima program

Ujima: Collective Work and Responsibility

Ujima at Diablo Valley College offers opportunities for students to learn college success strategies and prepare for graduation and transfer. This innovative program focuses on the African-American experience and supports students through counseling courses and cultural enrichment activities. The Ujima program is open to all students.

Counseling 130 Ensuing Transfer Success
Section # 2926 (1.5 units) Instructor N. Westbrook- TTH 2:00 pm- 3:15 pm. This is a late start class. Dates: Sept. 9th- Nov. 5th

Participant in the Ujima Program Will:

  • Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will facilitate adjustment to college environment
  • Participate in service learning projects
  • Develop effective behavior patterns through self examination
  • Attend cultural and social events, field trips, and college tours
  • Enhance motivation, discipline, time management, and resource utilization
