Study Abroad in Barcelona, Spain

DVC, LMC and CCC Students have a once in a lifetime opportunity to live and study in beautiful Barcelona Spain for the Fall 2023 term. Known for its gorgeous beaches, spectacular architecture and vibrant night life, Barcelona’s splendor will make this term one you’ll never forget.

Barcelona

Located on the western shores of the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and second largest city in Spain, with an urban area population of 4.5 million people. Its more than 2,000 years of history as a center of trade and culture have left their mark on the city’s architectural, artistic, and cultural heritage. Said to be the most cosmopolitan city in Spain, it’s not surprising that Barcelona has become one of Europe’s most popular venues for Study Abroad students, with its many café terraces, its 50 museums to choose from (including some that house Picasso and Miró), its narrow medieval streets in the Gothic Quarter, its plazas, theaters and concerts, its beaches, and, perhaps most colorful of all, its whimsical architectural creations of Antoni Gaudí, including his iconic Sagrada Familia. Want to relax after your day of classes and homework? How about sitting at a table with some paella and people-watching along the Ramblas, or finding a spot on a mosaic sea serpent bench created by Gaudí at Parc Güell?

Meet Professor Anthony Gonzales, Barcelona Trip Leader

Anthony Gonzales holds a BA in English and Spanish (double major) from the University of New Mexico and an MFA in Writing from the University of San Francisco. He has been teaching at Diablo Valley College since 2014. Between teaching at the high school level and teaching for outreach programs, tutoring, afterschool programs, and test prep, he has worked with students from kindergarten through four-year colleges and has over 10 years of experience teaching and 15 years of working with students.

Anthony has traveled to 20 countries—mostly as a student discovering new cultures and societies while earning college credit. He has seen first-hand the impact that travel can have on a student and individual, and is dedicated to bringing that experience to as many students as possible. He has been to Spain multiple times and brings knowledge of the language, culture, history, and customs of Spanish society.
