Bridgitte Schaffer

Faculty - History, San Ramon Campus

Bridgitte Schaffer is a Bay Area native and earned her BA from UC Berkeley, double-majoring in History and Celtic Studies.  (Go Bears!)   She took that degree and ran … all the way to the University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom, where she earned both an M.Phil. and a D.Phil. in Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic as a member of Girton College.  When not hunched over books in the University Library, she enjoyed debating the finer points of medieval English and Irish history and literature in the pub with her colleagues and visiting historical sites (preferably ones at the ends of long, muddy paths in the middle of nowhere).  Returning to the United States, she taught history at several community colleges before being hired to teach history full-time at the San Ramon Campus of DVC in 2014.  (Go Vikings!)  She especially enjoys teaching California History, Western Civilizations, and World History.  At the San Ramon Campus of DVC, she is an advisor for the Beta Pi Iota chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honors society for community colleges.
