Improve your reading : These 17 handouts focus on how to read textbooks and literature as well as how to improve your reading focus and memory. Also included is a  section on improving your vocabulary.

Improve your writing: These 17 handouts focus on the writing process, with detailed sections on writing thesis statements, and developing, editing and proofreading the essay. Handouts on grammar, writing a book report, a cause and effect essay, and writing essay tests are also here.   

 

   

 

Improve your study skills: This section of 30 items has ten categories, covering everything from the learning and studying process to  time management, listening skills, note-taking, using abbreviations, improving your concentration and memory, test preparation, test-taking strategies, how to write essay tests and stress reduction.

Tips for ESL students: Designed to be of special interest to students whose first language is not English, this section of 25 handouts pulls together handouts from the preceding three categories. There are categories on how to read textbooks, improve your vocabulary, and improve your listening skills. This section also covers using abbreviations for note-taking, writing essay tests, reducing stress, developing, editing, and proofreading the essay, and grammar tips.

 

   

Resources for Tutors: For tutors in the Learning Center, or for anyone interested in becoming a tutor, these materials include handouts tutors can give to their students, tips for successful tutoring, and information about the tutoring experience.
