Welcome to the Academic Affairs/Instruction Office at Diablo Valley College

At DVC, students are number one.  Our instructional programs are designed to meet your expanding educational and training needs.  Whether you are a new or a returning student, you can be confident that we will do all we can to assist you in achieving your academic goals, as well as provide you with many opportunities and enrichment activities that expand your horizons.

The choice of a college is an important decision and we are very pleased that you are interested in Diablo Valley College.  DVC has consistently been among the community colleges which transfers the most students to the University of California and the California State University systems. DVC also has strong career/technical programs to meet student and employer needs.  Career/technical programs range from Sports Medicine to Computer Networking Technology.  The college also offers life-long learning opportunities to students to upgrade their job skills, develop personal skills, or pursue individual academic interests.

The Academic Affairs/Instruction Office coordinates daily, nightly and weekend instructional activities for the college.  The office provides a wide range of support functions including:

The Transfer and General Education emphasis in the Academic Affairs/Instruction Office is designed to coordinate and assess the effectiveness of courses and programs to ensure student success in transfer.  Increasing student access through flexible scheduling is a major thrust.

The Workforce Development emphasis in the office focuses on maintaining the relevancy and currency of career/technical certificate courses and programs.  Priorities include developing effective relationships with employers through program advisory committees, outreach, marketing, work-based learning, and analysis of student success in the workplace.

Both functions work with the Articulation Officer to monitor the status of course articulation with universities and high schools.

The office is located in the Administration Building, room 214.  The hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.  Summer hours for the Instruction Office are Monday - Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. in June and July.  The Weekend Coordinator is available Mondays and Tuesdays and can be contacted at ext. 2039.  On Saturdays, the Weekend Coordinator office is located in the Information Center, from 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and can be reached at ext. 2578.
