Web Wizard: Easiest of all choices, the
5-minute Web Page Wizard
will get you on the web in literally 5 minutes. One can upload all types
of files with ease and list chronologically the order of these files.
FrontPage: Departments must use
frontPage when working on sites listed on
www.dvc.edu. Most use FrontPage
because it is easy to use on the PC, but other options exist for faculty
websites like Dreamweaver, IWeb, and Go Live. Staff Development offers
many workshops and much assistance in learning to use Frontpage, but
only minimal overviews for other programs. The
following link will take you to the
FrontPage Tutorial section of
the site.
Dreamweaver: Those with greater design needs
gravitate toward Dreamweaver which is more powerful but comes at
a cost: a longer learning curve. While one can use the program
here, it is not supported by Instructional Technology/Staff Development,
but is available as a course in the DVC schedule.
WebCT: While not a website, this
choice allows the instructor to have web-based material online as well
as the use of: quiz features, a communication system (email, chat,
discussion boards, whiteboard), student tracking, a bulletin board, and
many other features that can be more useful then the development of a
webpage/website.
