DVC's course management system, WebCT, is used often to distribute course content, allow students to communicate with each other and with their instructor through email and discussion, and to deliver our online course offerings. 

The following information about WebCT can be covered in 1 hour and workshops are offered year-round:

Typical 1 hour Workshops:

• Using email, discussion boards, and uploading documents

• Adding WebCT's Grade Tool for online grades

• Adding an online quiz or survey

• Using WebCT's Assignment Tool for submission and tracking of assignments

To help instructors explore WebCT in a manageable and easy way, Neal Skapura offers Flex and Staff Development workshops throughout each semester, in the Summer Technology Institute, and during drop-in hours in Staff Development (AB 217 on Monday 11-2 and Tuesday 11-2). Additional web-based resources exist to help the instructor find his or her way:

• Within a WebCT 4 course click on the Help Index and/or Ask Dr.C; both are available from the Help link on the top navigation bar.

• WebCT 6 Pilot Semester Project: Spring 2008

• WebCT 6 Tutorials at Carleton University (this university has done an outstanding job of creating text-based and video-based tutorials.) The Help Menu within WebCT 6 is not as helpful as WebCT 4, so consider using the Carleton University material first.
