Courses and Instruction Learning to do library research is an ongoing process. At DVC library instruction is an essential part of Library services to our academic community. The DVC Library has developed many tools to help you learn, from one-page handouts to a variety of courses, workshops, and class orientations.Library & information technology certificate programDiablo Valley College offers a certificate program in Library & information technology which prepares students for employment in the growing and dynamic field of library and information services. The skills learned in this program may be used in a variety of library settings, including school, public, academic and special libraries.LS121: Information Competency and Research SkillsThis transferable one-unit course introduces information resources, research skills and the concept of information competency. It will improve your ability to use a library and research information effectively and efficiently. LS-121 satisfies the DVC General Education requirement for Area VII-Information Competency..Library WorkshopsFaculty members are encouraged to bring their classes to the library for a workshop focusing either on the online catalog, electronic databases and/or internet searching. Held during regular class time in the Library's Lab (L-202), these workshops are typically tailored to fit your course curriculum or to a specific assignment. To schedule a workshop please submit a request for each class by filling out the online Request for Library Workshop form.
