  What is an eBook?
An eBook is an electronic version of a book that has already been published in print. Here in DVC, we subscribe to NetLibrary’s collection of eBooks which covers a wide range of topics, from classics like Charles Dicken’s David Copperfield to the latest in computers, business, law, etc.

How can I find NetLibrary eBooks?
There are two ways to access E-Books:

1. From ALICE, the library’s online catalog, enter your search terms and in the results list, limit to “eBook”

OR

2. From the library’s Electronic Databases web page, click on eBooks and use the Netlibrary search box to search the DVC collection.

How can I create a NetLibrary account?
You do not need a NetLibrary account to view or search books. You only needa NetLibrary account if you plan----
  • to take notes from the book and save them online
  • want to keep a list of favorites

Directions for creating a NetLibrary account:

1.  From the NetLibrary home page, click on the "Create a Free Account" link located on the top right corner.

2.  Fill in all required fields and click on the "Create Account" button.

Can I view an eBook at the same time that it is being viewed by another library user?
No. If a book is already being viewed by another library user, and there are no other copies 'owned' by the DVC Library, you will receive a message that indicates that the book is not available. You can try again later or choose one of the two options below:

1.  View the eBook's Table of Contents now
2.  Request to be notified when the eBook becomes available

Can I download NetLibrary eBooks to read off line or on a portable device?
No. You can only read NetLibrary eBooks if you are on a computer that is connected to the Internet.
  Can I print NetLibrary eBooks?
NetLibrary adheres to copyright rules that do not allow you to print an entire eBook. Library users can print or copy a few single pages at a time before NetLibrary issues a warning.
Where can I get additional information on using NetLibrary eBooks?
Detailed information on using NetLibrary eBooks is available by clicking on the Help button at the top of any NetLibrary web page. Context-sensitive help is also available by clicking on the tips links located on the NetLibrary “search,” “details,” and “viewing” pages. For additional assistance, please contact the DVC Library Reference Desk at (925) 685-1230 ext. 2246.
