The CELSA (Combined English Language Skills Assessment) is for students with whom English is not their first language. The test consists of 75 multiple choice questions and 45 minutes is given to complete the exam. The results will determine the appropriate course placement in one of the following ESL classes:
ESL 98A: Introduction to College Writing
ESL 96A: Introduction to College Reading and Study Skills
ESL 88: High Intermediate Writing Skills
ESL 86: High Intermediate Reading and Comprehension Skills
ESL 78: Intermediate Writing Skills
ESL 76: Intermediate Reading and Comprehension Skills
ESL 67: Introduction to College English Skills
*The CELSA assessment may be taken only once a semester
*Test results may be available the same day
*Alternate formats and ASL Interpreter available upon request.
