Math assessment levels and practice exams

Level 2 - If you have never taken an algebra class, you should consider taking the ALGEBRA READINESS test. Topics include arithmetic operations with integers, fractions, decimals and simple equations.

Algebra Readiness Practice Test

Level 3 - If you have completed the equivalent of Algebra I, PCM I or PCM II you should take the ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA test. Topics include algebra expressions, inequalities, polynomials and linear equations.

Elementary Algebra Practice Test

*Each of these levels of math assessment may be taken only once per year

*Each of these tests are 45 minutes in length

*No calculators are allowed on any of the math exams

*Results may be available the same day

College-Level Mathematics Test

The College-Level Mathematics test measures your ability to solve problems that involve college-level mathematics concepts. There are six content areas measured on this test: (a) Algebraic Operations, (b) Solutions of Equations and Inequalities, (c) Coordinate Geometry, (d) Applications and other Algebra Topics, (e) Functions, and (f) Trigonometry.

The Algebraic Operations content area includes the simplification of rational algebraic expressions, factoring and expanding polynomials, and manipulating roots and exponents.

The Solutions of Equations and Inequalities content area includes the solution of linear and quadratic equations and inequalities, systems of equations, and other algebraic equations.

The Coordinate Geometry content area presents questions involving plane geometry, the coordinate plane, straight lines, conics, sets of points in the plane, and graphs of algebraic functions.

The Functions content area includes questions involving polynomial, algebraic, exponential, and logarithmic functions.

The Trigonometry content area includes trigonometric functions.

The Applications and other Algebra Topics content area contains complex numbers, series and sequences, determinants, permutations and combinations, factorials, and word problems.

College-Level Math Practice Test

*This test may be taken twice per semester, but students must wait seven days from the initial test date for a re-test

*There is no time limit on this test (average test time is 30 minutes)

*No calculators are allowed on any of the math exams

*Results are available the same day

Enrollment in desired math courses require placement by assessment scores or successful completion of the appropriate prerequisite. (See course catalog)
