Preliminary Education Plans
2011-2012 Educational Plan
New student athletes will meet with the DVC Athletic Counselor (Jamie Bailey) in the fall semester to review/modify their preliminary student education plan. Athletes may call the Counseling Center after the fall semester begins, to schedule a counseling appointment 925-685-1230, ext. 2276 or 2278.
How do graduating high school seniors meet with the athletic counselor?
1. Fill out the DVC Admissions Application online.
2. Take the English and Math Assessment Test.
3. Enroll in COUNS 095 to meet with a general counselor and plan out what classes to take for fall 2011 and register as soon as possible. It is best to complete this class before May 20. COUNS 095 is an orientation class for new students to learn about the college and resources. Students will also plan which classes to take their first semester.
4. Enroll in COUNS 096. This is a Student Athlete Learning Community courses COUNS 096 and PETHE 150IC offered in the summer. This class covers NCAA rules, athletic code of conduct, Athletic Educational Plan. Note: these two Learning Community classes are linked together. The COUNS 096 is a Counseling class designed to create a comprehensive student athlete educational plan. The PETIC 098 class is an intercollegiate orientation class.
