The associate in science program in dental technology prepares students to construct removable and fixed prosthetic appliances; construct and cast inlays, crowns, and bridges; and prepare ceramic jackets.

The program of classroom instruction and clinical experience along with general education, leads to the associate degree in dental technology.  To earn a degree, students must complete each of the courses required for the major with a "C" grade or better. Major requirements for dental technology courses are only available in the day. General education courses are available in the day or evening.

Associate in science degree in Dental Laboratory Technology (DataTel code AS.DENLB.D)
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for gainful employment in the dental technology industry.

SLO#1. Students completing the program will be able to be employed as dental technicians in the commercial lab industry, as well as serve as in-house dental technicians in a dentist's office.

SLO#2. Students completing the program will be able to demonstrate knowledge in the fabrication of a variety of dental inlays, onlays, and ceramic restorations.

SLO#3. Students completing the program will be able to comprehend and interpret dental terminology as well as the dentist's prescriptions.

SLO#4. Students completing the program will be able to demonstrate skills in the development prostodontic appliances and perform denture relines and a variety of dental repairs.

SLO#5. Students completing the program will be able to demonstrate knowledge in cusp-to-fossae relationships and concepts of occlusions and malocclusions.

SLO#6. Students completing the program will be able to demonstrate knowledge in the manipulation of a variety of gypsum products such as plaster, die stone, yellow stone, and investment products such as high heat and low heat.
