Library services

Computers and internet access

The library has three areas with computers for student use.

Information Commons -- 32 computers
Computer lab (L202) -- 34 computers (Drop-in hours vary weekly. Check schedule.)
Entrance lobby area -- 7 computers for brief use

Internet access is available at each computer.

Laptop computers -- Students can use personal laptops in the library to access the Internet. Wireless access is available. Users must comply with appropriate use policies and the Library Users' Rights and Responsibilities.

Copy machines

Copy machines are located across the lobby from the Circulation & Reserve Desk, in Rm. L217. Color copies are now available. (B&W copies are 15¢, each side. Color copies are 80¢, each side) Copy machines accept Cash Cards, DVC Connect Cards (Student ID card), coins. and dollar bills up to $20.00. Add value to the printing cards in the copy machine room, L217 or at the print station in Information Commons of the Library.

Elevator

The elevator is located near the entry stairs.

Interlibrary loan

Faculty members, staff and students can use the Interlibrary Loan service to obtain materials from other libraries. Ask for assistance at the Reference & Research Desk.

Lost and found

Personal belongings found in the Library are kept at the Circulation & Reserve Desk for a short time and then sent to Police Services.

Media Services

The DVC audiotapes, videos and DVDs are listed in the ALICE library catalog. Search the entire DVC Collection or limit to the Media Collection. The collections themselves are available for use in the Media Services Department on the first floor of the library building.

Printing

Printing from library computers costs 10¢ per page using a Cash Card or DVC Connect Card (Student ID card). Add value to the card in the copy machine room, L217 or at the print station in Information Commons of the library.

Restrooms

Public restrooms are located near the Library's entrance.

Stapler, hole punch, etc.

A stapler, hole punch, and a paper cutter are available in the copy machine room, L217.

Study rooms for group use

Nine study rooms are available for groups of two to six persons. There is a 2 hour per day maximum per group. Sign up at the Circulation & Reserve Desk. Student ID is required. Reservations may be made up to one week in advance.

Off-campus access

Most of the library's electronic resources are available from off-campus to current Diablo Valley College students, faculty, and staff. Student or staff/faculty ID is required for remote access. Students, faculty, and staff will find their ID on their Connect Card. Faculty and staff who do not have a Connect Card will find their ID on their pay stubs.
