Math Lab location and hours
The lab is located in the Learning Center building, second floor. We are open M-Th 8 a.m. until 9:50 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. until 1:50 p.m.; and weekends (other than holidays) noon until 4:50 p.m. The phone number is (925) 685-1230 ext. 2263.
Come on in to the DVC Math Lab. The DVC Math Lab is here to support you in your math class. We encourage you to try all our services for the best possible math experience at DVC. Log in at the computers at the entrance (it’s easy and instructions are posted!). Then take advantage of any of the services below:
Drop-In Tutoring:
A math instructor and student tutors are available to help you for up to 15 minutes on a drop-in first-come first-served basis. To get help, sign in at the clipboard on the tutoring desk. Check the bulletin board for the best times for help with higher-level courses.
By-Appointment Tutoring (with special help for Statistics students)
We are now offering ½ hour tutoring appointments at a variety of times. Students may make one ½ hour appointment per day and up to two appointments per week, except for Math-142 students, who may make one hour appointments twice per week.
Group Tutoring for Math-110
Book a full hour with an experienced, helpful, sympathetic tutor for small groups of students taking Math-110. Bring your own group of friends or sign up to work with others. Drop-ins welcome at pre-scheduled times.
For By-Appointment and Group Tutoring: Walk in and make an appointment at the math lab staff desk during posted hours, or call 925 685 1230 extension 1901, or email mathtutoringdvc@dvc.edu and leave your name, class (for example, Math-182), and contact information.
Open Lab Computers
There are computers available in the Math Lab for DVC math students working with mathematics software for class assignments.
Quiet Study Hall
The Math Lab provides a quiet place to study with math help readily available.
Textbook Checkout
Students may check out a math textbook to use in the lab for up to two hours by using their DVC student ID card.
When Using the Math Lab, remember:
-No food or drink (other than bottled water) is allowed in the lab.
-The lab is a quiet study hall. Conversations, including cell phone conversations, should take place elsewhere.
-Solutions manuals are for use by tutors only.
-No dividing by zero.
