Accreditation Information

Diablo Valley College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, an institutional-accrediting body recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. The Office of Private Postsecondary Education also approves Diablo Valley College to offer courses to U.S. Veterans for collection of veterans' benefits.

DVC's Accreditation Continues

The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, has notified DVC of significant action taken at its January 2009 meeting. The Commission accepted the Special Report submitted by the College in August 2008 and concluded that the issues of grade security and integrity have been satisfactorily resolved. However, following a review of the Self Study Report for reaffirmation of accreditation and the report of the comprehensive evaluation team that visited DVC in October 2008, the Commission issued a Show Cause sanction, requiring the college to submit a detailed report by October 15, 2009, showing cause why its accreditation should not be withdrawn.

During the period of the show cause order, the accredited status of Diablo Valley College continues.

DVC is firmly committed to meeting the challenge of correcting the deficiencies that led to the sanction within the timeline established by the Commission. DVC’s outstanding and dedicated faculty, staff and administration will accomplish this vital task, working together to restore the fine reputation the college has had for sixty years.
