May 22, 2009, 7:00 p.m. in the stadium (weather permitting)  The commencement ceremony and celebration is open to students who earned a degree or certificate for summer or fall 2008, and spring 2009. Students who have applied for and who have met requirements for a degree or certificate will be sent detailed information about graduation in early May.  Take one lower division course at Berkeley in the Fall 2009 through UCB-DVC concurrent enrollment. All DVC students (residents and non-residents) can participate in this program to experience the academic and social life on the Berkeley campus. | Study Abroad opportunities |
It's not too late to study in London fall 2009.
American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) is offering ten $1,000 scholarships for the fall semester in London. Apply now for the London Program. The deadline is May 15, 2009.
The selection of the AIFS Scholarship recipient, whose AIFS fees will be reduced by $1,000, will be made by the Study Abroad Committee and be based on need, scholastic achievement, and the applicant's reason for studying abroad. For additional information about the scholarships.

| Educational Talent Search Program |
Tutors needed for summer 2009 (June 22 - July 23) The Educational Talent Search Program at DVC seeks tutors to work with low income local middle and high school students. Tutors are needed in mathematics (Prealgebra, Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II).
All tutoring will be held on the DVC campus on Monday through Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interested students should contact Jackie Castellano at jjonesca@dvc.edu. |
| Deadline for completion of Liberal Arts A.A. degree |
| Students completing A.A. degree requirements with the major of Liberal Arts, a program which was deleted from the DVC catalog in 2004, are advised that they must satisfy all requirements by the close of summer 2009, due to State regulations. Students unable to do so will have to select another major to complete their degree, and may see a counselor for assistance. |

| Campus Alert System |
Your attention please...
A loud siren will be heard throughout the DVC campus on Wednesday, May 6th at 11 a.m.
This will be a test of our recently installed Campus Alert System. The new system will be tested on the first Wednesday of every month at 11 a.m. and the test sound will last 30 seconds.
There is nothing you need to do during a siren test.
In the event of an actual emergency or crisis situation, the siren sound will continue for three minutes. Students and all campus personnel will be instructed to Shelter, Shut, and Listen.
