| This course will evaluate and explore various American cultures: African American, American Indian, Asian American, Hispanic, and European American as represented in feature film. Emphasis is on the analysis of similarities and differences, paying particular attention to social and cultural representations. In addition, the course will include issues specific to the world of cinema including how film language communicates ideas and stimulates emotional responses as well as how economic considerations influence Hollywood distribution practices.
