| This course equips students to research, write and market feature stories in the changing writing market. Students learn the differences in writing for newspapers, magazines and the growing internet market. The first seven weeks focus on basic skills necessary in all feature writing, including choosing and focusing a subject, interviewing and leads. Students learn to evaluate the trustworthiness of web sites and use internet sources. Other lectures discuss media law, including libel and copyright, especially as related to the internet, how to locate a market and how to write a query letter. Students choose and develop two major features and market to appropriate venues. CSU | ||
