| An Inquiry into Italian life and culture, from its historical origins through contemporary perspectives. Includes an introduction to Italian society and civilization through readings, lectures, seminar presentations/discussions, Italian guest speakers and field trips. Topics include the government, political parties, regional and ethnic identity, the Mafia, common market, media, sports, gastronomy, art, literature, music, language, Church-State relations, sexuality, the family and urban life.
