Authenticating from Off-campus
To access your email from off-campus, open
your browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, Netscape, etc.)
and enter http://diamond.dvc.edu
in the address line. A
log on dialog box will appear similar to the
image below with two text boxes. You will need to know the network domain, your
user name and password in order to authenticate and access OWA.
Your user name is typically the first
letter of your first name followed by the first seven letters of your
last name. So, for example, Amy Singalli's user name would be
asingall. The network domain is DVC (upper-case or lower- case).
Your password is your secret -- make it a strong one with at least 8
characters to include non-alpha's.
Here is how Amy would authenticate to OWA (the actual
password is not visible).

2 text boxes:
- User Name: DVC\ASingall
- Password: ********

Changing Your Password
It is a good practice to change your
password at least every 3 to 6 months. Select Options at the bottom of
your Folders pane and scroll down to select Change Password
and follow the prompts.

Many more options are available from here
including the ability to insert an auto-response message for when you
will be out of the office.

Global Address List
OWA provides access to the global
address list of users (e.g., Singalli, Amy, etc.) and user groups
(e.g., 02-Information Center@DVC, etc.). To access the global address
list, review the following steps, noting the numbers necessary to access the
user groups for each campus (DVC is 02-, LMC is 03-, CCC is 04-, SRVC is 05- and
the District
Office is 00-):
- Click on "New"
(meaning new message) in the upper, left-hand corner and when the new
email message pops up, click on the To, CC, or BCC field.
- While you will have to "find" the
user or group's name by searching,
note that if you search in the Display Name field with "02," that
Diablo Valley College's groups will come up, e.g., 02-Faculty,
02-Faculty (Part-time), 02-Classified Staff, etc. The same is true for SRVC, etc.
- To access an individual user, type
in their first or last name in the appropriate text box and click "find."
Then highlight the user's name and select the appropriate recipient
box below, (e.g., To, Cc, Bcc).
Help Menu The Help Menu
is useful and addresses frequently asked questions shown below.
To access it, click on the Help button located
above the subject line on the pinkish bar below (your colors may vary
and to determine colors, one can change them from within the Options
Folder on the navigation side bar.)
