After You Apply

After you submit your FAFSA or California Dream Act application you can follow the steps below to check your financial aid status.  If you have followed the steps below and still have questions, contact our office at financialaid@dvc.edu or call (925)969-2009 during regular business hours.  We are here to help you.

Next Steps

1. Check your status and review your checklist

Within one week of submitting your application online for the current academic year (2023-2024), the DVC Financial Aid Office will send a follow-up email to your InSite account with more information or instructions. ALERT: Due to the delayed release of the 2024-2025 FAFSA and CADAA, the Financial Aid Office may not begin processing applications for the next academic year until late spring or early summer.  

If you do not receive an email, you can our office to check the status of your application.  Make sure you list DVC's federal school code (001191) first on your FAFSA or the CA Dream Act school code (00119100) to ensure your application is received and processed by the college.  

You may be required to complete and submit additional forms or documents to the Financial Aid Office. To find out, log into InSite, click on the Financial Aid icon, and click on Financial Aid Home.

Submission of additional information or documents may be required so our office can confirm the information on your FAFSA or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) is correct. Financial aid staff will review the information you reported on the FAFSA or CADAA and compare it with the information/documents submitted and change any errors found on your application.

You can complete the verification process by accessing links available from your Insite checklist.

2. Submit missing documents (if applicable)

Students are required to submit all documents electronically using links to online forms that can be access from the Financial Aid tile on InSite.

 Some documents can also be submitted the following ways:

  • Scan and upload your documents using the Document Uploader button below.  Don’t have a scanner? Learn how to scan without a computer.

  • Fax to (925)691-1132
  • Mail to: Diablo Valley College Financial Aid Office, 321 Golf Club Road, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.

Documents submitted via email are not accepted.  The Financial Aid Office reserves the right to request resubmission of documents and identification should the documents not be clear or legible.

3. Select how you want to receive your aid

Diablo Valley College delivers your refund with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc. Here's what you need to do.

  1. Select the Financial Aid tile after logging into InSite
  2. Click on "My FA Disbursements"
  3. Click on "BankMobile - First time Setup".

To select your refund preference or learn more about BankMobile Disbursements, visit Your Financial Aid Disbursement Options (4cd.edu) . Only students that are enrolled and have completed the FAFSA or California DREAM Act Application will be able to select a refund preference.

4. Review your financial aid award offer

You will receive an financial aid award offer email in your InSite account about 2-4 weeks after your drop-in meeting at the Financial Aid Office. The award letter will posted to your InSite account and list the type and amount of financial aid (grants, loans, and work-study) you qualify to receive.  Please review the 2023-2024 Financial Aid Disbursement Calendar to learn the dates that financial aid will be disbursed and timelines for delivery based on the funding option you select.
