Submit proof of vaccination

IMPORTANT:

All students are required to wear a mask that covers both the nose and mouth while in class. If a student forgets to bring or wear a mask, they can get a paper mask in labs, classrooms, division deans’ offices and the Student Services Center. If a student does not comply with mask requirements, they may be subject to the college’s code of conduct.

Students are required to complete a self-assessment prior to coming to campus each day. Please review the checklist.

Students and employees are not permitted to enter the campus and must notify their instructor or supervisor if:

  1. they test positive for COVID-19,
  2. they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. They must leave the area if they develop symptoms while on campus or,
  3. they have been in close contact (for 15 minutes within 6 feet) with or otherwise exposed to a known or suspected case of COVID-19.

Vaccines

Are vaccinations required to be on campus?

To register for spring 2022 in-person classes or to utilize in-person services (beginning January 3, 2022), students must provide proof of vaccination or receive an approved exception by November 1, 2021. Students meeting this deadline will receive a $150 incentive for helping to keep our communities safe.

Students who do not provide proof of vaccination or receive an approved exception by November 1, 2021, will have a hold placed on their record that will restrict them from registering for in-person classes. Students will not be able to register for in-person classes until they become fully vaccinated or receive an approved exception.

Students who are attending only online classes for the 2021-2022 school year, and who will not be visiting campus at all, may choose not to upload their vaccine information.

All students, regardless of vaccination status, may continue taking in-person classes and utilizing in-person services during the fall semester. No student will be removed or dropped from a class in fall 2021 for not being vaccinated.

All employees, regardless of primary work location, are subject to the vaccine requirement.

Are vaccinations (or negative tests) required for on-campus dining, exercise or athletics?

Per a September 14, 2021 health order:

  • Restaurants and food services - Only vaccinated individuals or those with a negative test within the last 72 hours may consume food indoors. Unvaccinated individuals who have not been tested within the last 72 hours may purchase food from indoor facilities and consume it outdoors.
  • Indoor exercise classes and gym activities – Students and faculty must be fully vaccinated or have received a negative test within the last 72 hours. Outdoor courses are not subject to the order.
  • Athletic events – The order does not apply to spectators, only athletes.

What are the vaccination rates in Contra Costa County?

Vaccination rates in our county are quite high. More information is available on the county’s data dashboard.

Daily on-campus reporting requirement

In order to support contact tracing and in accordance with state law (SB 1159), employees are required to submit record of all on-campus attendance, via the yellow InSite tile titled ‘COVID-19’.

  • At each site you visit on any given day, regardless of how much, or how little time you spent at the site.
  • Once for every day you are on a district site.

Masks

What are current mask requirements?

Masks are required indoors regardless of a person’s vaccination status. This does not apply to people in the following circumstances:

  • When alone in a room
  • When actively eating or drinking
  • When swimming or showering
  • When receiving care or other service that requires removal of the face covering
  • When exempt from wearing face coverings under the State Face Covering Guidance or other applicable California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidance.

If a student is requesting a medical exemption from wearing a face covering, students should contact Disabled Student Services/Disabled Students Programs & Services (DSS/DSPS) prior to coming on campus to request an accommodation.

If an employee is requesting a medical exemption from wearing a face covering, they should contact their supervisor prior to coming on campus to request an accommodation.

How will mask requirements be enforced for students/employees?

If a student forgets to bring or wear a mask, they will be able to get a temporary mask in classrooms, division deans’ offices and the Student Services Center. If a student repeatedly fails to comply or refuses to comply with mask requirements, they will be subject to the college’s code of conduct.

Review employee guidance for managing student mask compliance.

If an employee forgets to bring or wear a mask, they will be able to get an N-95 mask in the dean’s office. If an employee repeatedly fails to comply or refuses to comply with mask requirements, they will be directed to leave the work site and their supervisor will notify human resources immediately.

Will masks be available on campus for students/employees?

Yes, students can find paper masks in classrooms, division deans’ offices and the Student Services Center.

Per CalOSHA requirements, N-95 masks will be available for employees in the deans’ offices.

Social distancing and reduced capacity

Can I limit number of students/employees in my areas?

Per the current county’s guidance, social distancing and reduced capacity is no longer required in public settings and cannot be insisted upon.

Can I, as a classified professional/manager, request that students/employees contact me remotely versus coming into my office?

You can request it, but not require it. Per district guidelines, as of August 2, all college offices will be open for in-person services.

Athletics

Are there any specific requirements or protocols for athletics?

  • DVC student-athletes have been asked to provide proof of vaccination.
  • Unvaccinated athletes and athletics employees are required to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.
  • Masks are required for vaccinated and unvaccinated student-athletes when training/meeting indoors.
  • All officials must show proof of vaccination or get tested weekly just like student-athletes.
  • Fans in stands will be allowed.

Facilities and Cleaning

Are there enhanced cleaning protocols on our campuses?

Yes, there are enhanced cleaning protocols in place. We will continue to follow those established protocols (electrostatic spraying, disinfecting high touch areas and quick response to any/all reported infected areas). There will not be any cleaning between classes throughout the day. All cleaning will be done once per evening, after classes and campuses have closed.

Will extra cleaning supplies (sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizer) be made available to service areas and departments?

Hand sanitizer will continue to be available in all rooms. Wipes are available as supplies allow in division offices. Disposable masks will continue to be available in all areas as well – classrooms and division offices.

What efforts have been made to ensure that ventilation systems are functioning properly?

There is a current district-wide project to assess and repair ventilation and filtration systems to meet the CDC/OSHA HVAC recommendations. This work is active and on-going. Our expectation is that the areas initially identified as priority – those that will be occupied during fall semester – will be mostly completed prior to the start of the semester.

Incidents of COVID-19 symptoms or infection

What should students/employees do if they are not feeling well or know that they have been exposed to COVID-19?

All employees and students are encouraged to use 4CD Safe to complete a daily self-assessment for COVID-19 symptoms prior to coming to campus.

Beginning January 3, 2022, the daily health assessments and the green ‘symptom-free’ passes provided by 4CD Safe will be required for all employees and students to be on campus. To log in, students should use their InSite email address and employees should use their full @email.4cd.edu email address.

Complete Your Daily Health Assessment

Please contact your instructor(s)/supervisor if you need to miss work or class. Employees, students and vendors are not permitted to enter the campus if:

  2. they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms and are to leave the area if they develop symptoms while on campus, or
  3. they have been in close contact with or otherwise exposed to a known or suspected case of COVID-19 and should not come to campus until they have been cleared to do so by a medical professional following current guidance from the CDC.

What do I do if I begin to feel sick on-campus?

If you begin to feel sick while on-campus, leave campus immediately and seek medical attention. All students/employees are asked to report to their instructor(s)/supervisor if they are experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms or test positive for COVID-19.

What happens if I have been exposed to or test positive for COVID-19?

If you have been in close contact (for 15 minutes within 6 feet) or test positive for COVID-19, contact your instructor(s)/supervisor so that contact tracing may begin immediately.

Will confidentiality be maintained if I report to test positive for COVID-19?

Yes, confidentiality will be maintained per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable federal and state laws.

How long do I have to self-quarantine?

  • Fully vaccinated individuals should quarantine only if symptomatic or with a positive test. (Fully vaccinated means last dose of any of the three vaccines received at least two weeks prior.)
  • Unvaccinated individuals should quarantine after a confirmed close contact with COVID-19 positive (Close contact means 15 minutes within six feet.)

What will happen if I do not comply with college policies?

Individuals who do not comply with college policies will be subject to disciplinary policies.

Will we be notified if there are cases of COVID-19 on campus?

Any students or employees who are identified through contact tracing to have been exposed to a COVID-19 infection will be notified.
