Math Acceleration Pathways for STEM

MAPS: Information Technology Pathway

What is MAPS: Information Technology?

MAPS IT is a special program at DVC meant to help students accelerate their pathway to degrees and careers in information technology. Students can take the 2-year sequence to be prepared for internships, jobs and possible transfer opportunities

What are the benefits of the program?

• Students take all math and IT courses together, forming a strong learning community
• Accelerated Math: Save valuable time by accelerating your math courses
• MAPS Workshops (guest speakers from industry, college transfer process, financial aid, etc.)
• Guaranteed registration for all MAPS Core courses
• Full-time Student Support Specialist dedicated to helping students succeed
• Compete for paid summer internships at companies including Lawrence Livermore Lab & Lawrence Berkeley Lab. The MAPS Core course sequence has been designed in collaboration with our industry partners

Eligibility:

• Must be eligible to take Math 120 (Int. Algebra) by Fall 2017 either by placement exam or by passing      Math 90
• Interest in Information Technology
• Full-time student for Fall 2017 committed to completion of ALL MAPS Core: IT courses (Summer 2017, Fall 2017, Spring 2018).

Objectives:

• Complete requisite math and computer courses for a solid IT foundation and job preparation
• Gain valuable experience through internships at well-known employer partners including the National Labs
• Develop strong study skills needed for degree completion
• Gain technical skills needed for employment in the technology industry

 MAPS: Machine Technology (mTECH)

What is MAPS- Mechine Technology?

 

MAPS mTECH is a special 2-year program at DVC meant to help students accelerate their pathway to degrees and careers in engineering and machine technology.

• Students take all math and engineering/technology courses together, forming a strong learning community
• Accelerated Math: Save valuable time by accelerating your math courses
• MAPS Workshops (guest speakers from industry, college transfer process, financial
aid, etc.)
• Guaranteed registration for all MAPS Core mTECH courses
• Full-time Student Support Specialist dedicated to helping students succeed
• Compete for paid summer internships at companies including Lawrence Livermore Lab & Lawrence Berkeley Lab. The MAPS Core course sequence has been designed in collaboration with our industry partners

• Gain valuable experience through internships at well-known employer partners including the National Labs
• Develop strong study skills needed for degree completion
• Gain technical skills needed for employment in the technology industry
