Vida Pavesich

Faculty - Humanities/Philosophy, Pleasant Hill Campus

Vida Pavesich has been a part-time philosophy instructor at DVC since 1994. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego, where she completed her dissertation on the German philosopher Hans Blumenberg. She has a wide variety of philosophical and other interests: contemporary continental philosophy, ethics, social and political philosophy, history of philosophy, philosophy of religion, photography, and reading good mystery novels.

She loves to teach critical thinking: she blends the traditional study of argumentation and fallacies with a study of media awareness, and she emphasizes the relevance of philosophy generally to everyday life.
