Take Assessments Remotely

DVC understands that every student's situation is unique. If for any reason you are unable to complete an assessment on the DVC campus, you can take it through a different campus's proctoring service (meaning, a location other than DVC with someone to supervise your assessment). This is available to any student located in the United States or US military base.

Please note:  You must include your DVC student ID number on all documents and emails.

How do I take the assessment remotely?

  • Email the Assessment Center (assessmentcenter@dvc.edu) to request a copy of the "Student Instructions" and "Remote Proctoring Request Form."
  • This form will need to be filled out by the proctor at the location where you will take the assessment.
  • Once this form has been completed and submitted to the Assessment Center, it will take up to 72 business hours to process.
  • Once your proctor and location have been approved, you may take the assessment at your chosen location.

When will my results be ready?

Placements are usually posted within 72 business hours of completing your assessment.

Please allow 72 hours if you took the assessment remotely.

Please note: Assessment Center staff cannot give results over the phone, mail, fax, or email.

What assessments are offered remotely?

  • ESL (English as a Second Language).

Where can I take the assessments remotely?

  • The assessments can be taken at any College or University in the United States that offers proctoring services and whose proctoring policies and rules are the same as DVC's.
  • You will need to contact your preferred location to find out if they offer proctoring services, what their policies are, how to schedule, and how much it costs. Any and all proctoring fees are the responsibility of the student.
  • DVC requires that the "Remote Proctoring Request Form" be completed by the actual proctor (supervisor) of the assessment. The date of the assessment must be included on the form. Any form submitted to our office with missing or incorrect information will not be approved.
  • Assessments must be taken at a college in the United States and at least 100 miles away from DVC's Pleasant Hill campus. 


Can I take my assessment at DVC to use at another college?

No. Assessments are only available to students who have applied to DVC. DVC will not send assessment placements to any other school.
