September 21, 2020:  Finish your captioning to-do list for one module

Accessibility Goal of the Week

This week, we will implement the captioning options you read about and chose in last week's goal. The options and relevant links appear again below so you can follow the steps (Option 4 now has the contact information included).  If you are using Option 2 and find yourself working longer than 20 minutes, feel free to stop and pick up the editing again when you have more time.

Option 1:

Look for another, human-captioned video that will suit your instructional purpose.

Option 2:

If you are the video author, edit your own captions easily either through Canvas Studio or YouTube. ** This is a good option if your videos are short!

Option 3:

If you are the video author, submit the video (in mp4 or similar format) to 3CMedia.  This service can caption the video for you and is funded by the Chancellor’s Office.  Turnaround time is usually 3-5 business days, depending on the length.  Crystala Button made this handy guide for using 3CMedia. You can also check out this video for how to request captions from 3CMedia.

Option 4:

Regardless of whether you are the author, submit video(s) for captioning through Disability Support Services who will use an outside vendor. ** Consider this option if you have a high volume of videos that need editing.  Contact Rose Desmond to begin this process.
