September 27, 2021:  Convert one PDF to a Canvas page

Accessibility Goal of the Week

Over the past two weeks we have learned why converting PDFs to Canvas pages is an accessibility best practice and how to do it.  This week, let’s put our learning into action!

  1. Create a blank Canvas page (be sure to keep it unpublished so as not to confuse your students while you practice).
  2. Take the PDF you selected in last week’s goal and try the copy/paste/format method we reviewed last week.
  3. Consider including the PDF file within the page to give your students the choice of which format they prefer.  Printing PDFs is often cleaner than printing a Canvas page. Offering our students choice to fit their learning preference is universal design in action! Here is a screenshot of what this might look like:

  4. When you're satisfied with the results, add your new page to your course and publish it.  Well done!
