The Health Careers Summer Institute is a two-course program (Medical Terminology and
Introduction to Health Careers with CPR training) that is open to high school juniors
and seniors who have completed high school biology.
This six-week summer program is for college credit and introduces students to healthcare and healthcare careers through lecture, laboratory, and fieldwork experiences. These activities allow students to explore healthcare career specializations and provides a foundational overview of healthcare systems, processes, culture, ethics, and integrated professions.
HCSI students will visit local healthcare facilities and participate in patient-centered experiences firsthand. Course content focuses on trending healthcare practices and current standards and will assist students to select appropriate educational programs and professional goals according to their academic goals.
Patient care experience is as valuable as the theory and academics that are behind
the medical treatments. These courses are intended to develop students to become future
healthcare leaders who will deliver excellent patient care as well as quality industry
The Health Careers Summer Institute is a six-week program that meets
Monday - Thursday, 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., June 18 - July 26, 2018.
Students that successfully complete all six weeks will earn six college credits!
