Communication Studies - Speech and Debate team success

Congratulations to the Communication Studies Speech and Debate Team for their recent success over winter break! The DVC students
braved the frigid conditions of the Midwest to compete in the “Hell Froze Over Swing”
at Bradley University in Peoria, IL and took home the gold medal at the “Close to
the Coast Invitational” at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA.
Special congratulations to the top debate team, Miranda Konoplisky and Avangeline
Balingit, for placing first in the Open Parliamentary Debate against the top schools
in California. Recognition also goes to Alan Fishman and Rebecca Camacho for making
it to the bronze round, and to Miranda Konoplisky for being the tournament’s top speaker.
