Spring Schedule

How do individuals and businesses make decisions? How do we measure the health of our economy? How can economic policy help us solve the challenges we face as a society?

DVC's economics program explores these questions and more. Learn about government policies such as minimum wage, income distribution, taxation, environmental regulation, and healthcare. Economics is great preparation for a range of careers in business, non-profit, or government.

The economics program will prepare you for work in a variety of occupations and career paths, including:

  • Actuarial analyst
  • Consulting analyst
  • Data or business analyst
  • Economist
  • Economic research assistant
  • Financial analyst
  • Financial or management consultant
  • Government jobs
  • Non-profit management
  • Policy analyst

Degree

Change your life with an economics degree.

I chose economics because I find it intriguing how money moves in society and how people make decisions based on the economy, income, and the price of a good or service. And I liked how I could choose whether to take fully online, hybrid, or in-person classes at DVC. I ended up taking hybrid for most of my economics courses as it fit my schedule best.

About degrees and certificates

Certificates:
A certificate readily prepares you to enter a particular field or career. It can also give you new skills for advancement in the workplace.

Associate Degrees:
An associate degree requires a broader education for career options in a range of industries. It's a great step towards earning a bachelor degree at a four-year school or entering the workforce sooner.

Associate Degrees for Transfer:
A transfer degree is equivalent to the first two years of a bachelor’s degree program. Earning one can guarantee admission to California State Universities, some private and online universities, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). ADTs, along with a transfer agreement guarantee (TAG) with the University of California system can help you achieve your goals for less. Learn about transfer services.
