Community of Pride

What is Community of Pride?

Community of Pride is a learning community designed for LGBTQIA+ students & allies. We understand the significance of a safe and supportive environment for queer and trans individuals. In Community of Pride, you'll find your home here on campus. Join us to take classes tailored to queer-specific content and foster connections with like-minded peers and instructors.

How Does it Work?

In this learning community, two courses are offered. The courses are themed around issues of particular interest and importance to our community: identity, mental health, history, and activism. They also help you meet your general education requirements for degree and transfer, regardless of your major!

In addition to course work, there are extra supports built into the learning community, including links to counseling, special guest speakers, workshops, and peer mentorship opportunities.

Community of Pride is open to anyone.

How Do I Join Community of Pride?

Once you're ready to sign up, just fill out the Community of Pride Interest Form. One of the coordinators will reach out to clear you to register in our classes and to schedule an education planning counseling appointment with you.

DVC student, Manny, joined the Community of Pride learning community and has enjoyed having the support in his college journey.

I have Professor Patrick Moe as a mentor. He helped me join Community of Pride and helped me learn more about DVC as a new student.
