Chris Longenecker is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Diablo Valley College, where he teaches courses on global politics and social justice. He specializes in social movements, inequality, and community organizing, with a focus on North and South America. He was a co-founder of the Occupy Wall Street movement in his native New York and has participated in a wide variety of movements for social and economic justice, as well as several electoral campaigns.
Chris previously taught at Ohlone College, as well as San Francisco State University. During his time at SFSU, he served as Communications Director for his labor union, the California Faculty Association - SFSU, and worked as a professional organizer on the staff of the statewide California Faculty Association.
He received his MA in Political Science from San Francisco State University, his MEd in Social Science Education from American College of Education, and his BS in Government and Latin American History from Suffolk University.
