Sangha Niyogi has a Ph.D. in Sociology from U.C. Davis. She is Chair of Sociology and Co-Director of the Social Justice Program at Diablo Valley College, California. Her scholarship focuses on race, ethnicity, immigration, liberatory pedagogy, and intersectionality.
Dr. Niyogi’s pedagogical approach is grounded in the conviction—echoing Paulo Freire—that education is never a neutral enterprise, and that educators have a responsibility to employ social justice-oriented pedagogies to dismantle systemic oppression. Central to her work is empowering all students to recognize their inherent agency and collective power to transform society.
