The FYE Program was designed especially for YOU - the first time college student, to assist in your transition from high school to campus life at DVC. Starting college can be both stressful and exciting, but as part of the DVC FYE community, you have support.
The First Year Experience Program curriculum is designed to engage students by offering various Learning Communities pathways that are both challenging and collaborative. The spirit of the Learning communities is to educate, as you might expect, but to also build community amongst students and faculty.
2023 Virtual Welcome Day Session
Transfer Basics: Learn about the basics of transferring to a four-year university including transfer preparation, planning, and application process.
Financial Aid & Scholarships: This presentation will give students general information regarding financial aid at DVC- as well as- scholarship options.
Student Life: Interested in joining a club? Come learn about DVCSync and the clubs offered on our campus!
Career Education and Work Experience Programs: DVC's programs are designed to align academic theory with hands-on experience, skills, and technology employers seek. Learn more about these industry-driven degrees & certificates.
Student Centers: This workshop will introduce new students to the variety of programs and services offered in our Interest Area Student Centers.
Balancing, Work, Life and School: This workshop is designed for working adults returning to school; providing an overview of some basic tools and strategies for success while juggling work, life, and school.
Queer DVC Resources for LGBTQIA+ Students
Come learn about the ways in which DVC supports the LGBTQIA+ community in and outside
of the classroom. You will get connected with the resources you need, brainstorm strategies
to face potential challenges, and meet supportive faculty, counselors, and fellow
students.

Balancing Work, Life and School
This workshop is designed for working adults returning to school; providing an overview
of some basic tools and strategies for success while juggling work, life, and school.
Topics will include goal setting, time management, campus resources and support systems.
