Join Diablo Valley College for Read Contra Costa (September 02 – November 08, 2025), featuring James by Percival Everett — a powerful retelling of Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn told from enslaved Jim’s perspective and winner of the "2025 Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award." As build-up at DVC, we will host a screening of American Fiction, the acclaimed satire based on Everett’s Erasure.
On November 08, there will be a live Author Talk with Percival Everett at Los Medanos College, followed by a book signing.
Los Medanos College will also host a faculty panel on James to deepen your understanding and spark discussion.
