Trans Day of Remembrance Celebration

November 20, 2025
12:45 pm - 2:45 pm
  • Pleasant Hill
  • Library - L
  • Forum Room

This vibrant and heartfelt event honors Trans Day of Remembrance.

(Location of the Library Forum)

Celebrate the lives, resilience, and cultural brilliance of gender-diverse communities - particularly through the voices of Samoan fa’afafine and queer AAPI performers.

Through powerful storytelling, live performances, and music filled with spirit and joy, we’ll remember those we’ve lost while lifting up the beauty of trans and two-spirit identities that have always existed across the islands. This is a space of remembrance, reflection, and celebration - where laughter, rhythm, and community come together to honor the past and imagine a brighter future.

This event will feature a speaker from UTOPIA (United Territories of Pacific Islanders Alliance) on Queer and Trans Pacific Islander identities, plus live drag performances from Oaklash, an Oakland-based arts nonprofit.

In a moment when trans rights and drag are under attack, we’re choosing visibility, joy, and solidarity. By uplifting AAPI artists and Indigenous queer identities such as fa'afafine, we celebrate trans resilience and affirm that our campus is a place where all of us belong.

Stand with us to celebrate trans joy, honor trans lives, and build a safer DVC.
