Nicholas Bonasera
Nicholas Bonasera is a student at Diablo Valley College (DVC) and a United States Marine Corps veteran who proudly served six years on active duty, including overseas assignments in Mexico, Sudan, and the Czech Republic. As a student leader, veteran advocate, and aspiring public servant, Nicholas is committed to ensuring every student has access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to succeed.
At DVC, Nicholas serves as President of the Student Veterans of America, where he works to strengthen connections between student veterans, campus leadership, and the broader community. He is committed to student advocacy and district-wide leadership, with a focus on expanding educational access, improving support services, and promoting civic engagement. His leadership extends beyond campus through volunteer work, community outreach, and public service initiatives focused on veterans, students, and underserved populations.
Nicholas has long been passionate about leadership, public policy, and service. Drawing from his experiences as both a veteran and community college student, he understands the challenges many students face and believes every student deserves to be heard. He plans to continue his education in Political Science before pursuing graduate and law studies focused on public policy, government, and advocacy.
As Student Trustee, Nicholas is dedicated to representing all students across the Contra Costa Community College District. He values diverse perspectives, meaningful dialogue, and student-centered decision-making, and remains committed to ensuring that every student’s voice has a place at the table.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Represent student voice for all students in the District (CCC, DVC, LMC, Brentwood Center and San Ramon Center)
- Chair the Student Trustee Advisory Council composed of CCC, DVC, and LMC Associated Student Presidents, Chancellor, Advisors, and District Staff
- Attend and participate in the monthly Contra Costa Community College District Governing Board Meetings
- Participate in professional development and legislative visits
