This marks the best performance in the school’s history and the best performance on record for any Northern California team at the Phi Rho Pi National Championships. The tournament awards “Gold” award to the top two schools in each entry size category, putting Diablo Valley College (DVC) second overall in the Large School division.
Culinary arts and hospitality students can get a great start on their career by enrolling at DVC. There are numerous opportunities for hands-on learning not only in class, but also in campus eateries as well as restaurants throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
“It took me a few years to find out what I’m passionate about. I was a sociology major but it wasn’t what I wanted to do in the long-run. When I learned about the industrial automation and robotics program, I became immediately interested because the program was developed in partnership with Tesla,” said Luz Mendoza.
The College and Career Access Pathway for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (CCAP-STEM) Academy is a dual enrollment partnership between Mt. Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD) and DVC, based at Ygnacio Valley High School. Students focused on entering an engineering pathway are able to earn college credits from DVC while in high school.
