“Our program has evolved to meet the needs of the local community and job market. Many students who take horticulture classes plan on going into their own business. We also have many students who go on to complete a bachelor’s degree,” said Bethallyn Black, lead faculty for the horticulture and plant science program at DVC.
Students interested in careers that combine art and technology can enroll in either the art digital media program or the film, television and electronic media (FTVE) program. Art digital media students can specialize in animation, game design, graphic design, and interaction design. FTVE students learn skills to prepare for careers in film, broadcasting, online media, and more.
What is the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Grant? The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Grant is a federally-funded program offered through the Department of Labor. The funds help dislocated workers and adults with significant employment barriers train to enter or re-enter the job market.
DVC Speech and Debate won 22 awards at Nationals, including 5 golds and a historic first-ever national title in Reader’s Theater.
“I decided to become an early childhood education teacher because of the fond memories of my early schooling. I remember the warm teachers, the smell of the paint materials and the moments of play,” said Luis Gonzalez, a student enrolled in the early childhood education (ECE) program at DVC. Many students stack credentials. This means they work in the field while enrolled and pursue multiple certificates or degrees to advance in their career.
