MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) is a statewide program for educationally and economically underrepresented students majoring in calculus- based Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) fields. MESA at DVC is an endowed program that provides academic enrichment in STEM courses to students so they transfer to four-year institutions and have a successful career in a STEM field. The program is a vibrant community of students, faculty and STEM professionals working together to support our STEM students.
Due to the coronavirus (COVID 19) crisis, the MESA program will be offering remote services through Zoom and Discord platforms until further notice.

As a first-generation student, I did not have a clue on how to be successful in college, let alone in a STEM-related field. When I graduated high school my reading, writing, and math skills were nowhere near college level. However, MESA did not look at what I lacked as a student. Instead, they saw potential that I did not know I had. Because of the support MESA staff and students gave me, I am now a senior at UC Davis studying Computational Cognitive Science.

My MESA experience has been phenomenal, it’s a wonderful program that helps you reach
your goals and make great connections. Every time I enter the PUMA building I feel
welcomed like in a family and inspired to overcome obstacles and stay motivated. The
counselors are amazing; they've encouraged, helped with resources and with my problems
when I need someone to talk to or advice. To anyone thinking of joining, you will
not regret it.
